Freedom From Hunger: A Collaborative Fundraising Project

August 2024 - ONGOING

Over 190 million Indians go to sleep on an empty stomach every night. This grim reality prompted us to launch ‘Freedom from Hunger’, a fundraising initiative that actively supports hunger-relief organisations and their role in local food systems.

Each year, The Locavore organises fundraising campaigns for various hunger-focused initiatives. These campaigns are aimed at garnering funds and resources to sustain some organisations across India that have been working towards curbing hunger. From a community kitchen feeding daily-wage workers in north Delhi to a grassroots initiative working towards zero hunger in Mumbai, our efforts are directed towards marginalised and often overlooked populations.

To take this initiative a step further, we’re launching the ‘Freedom for Hunger’ campaign this Independence Day. With this dedicated space, our aim is to highlight organisations fighting hunger across the country, promote their tremendous work, and invite The Locavore’s ever-growing community to contribute through donations, forging partnerships, building networks, and much more.

Raised Over ₹7 Lakhs | Provided 23,000+ Meals
Supported 2 Community Kitchens

Our objectives include:

• Highlighting Hunger Relief Organisations: Showcase the efforts and impact of various organisations combating hunger across India.

• Promoting Community Involvement: Encourage our TL community to support these organisations through donations, partnerships, and spreading awareness.

• Building a Resource Bank: Develop a comprehensive resource bank of organisations focused on hunger relief, to create a centralised platform for information and collaboration.
