Work with Us

Events & PR Associate

Role: Events & PR Associate
Reports to: Marketing Lead
Location: Remote (India-based; travel required for key events)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About The Role

The Locavore is a multidisciplinary platform working at the intersection of food, culture, sustainability, and community. Through editorial storytelling, grassroots initiatives, partnerships, immersive experiences, and public programming, we are building a long-term movement rooted in Doing Good Through Food.

From meetups and workshops to Beyond the Plate virtual sessions, film screenings, panel discussions, Chef on the Road journeys, festival engagements, immersive installations, public talks, and collaborative dinners, our work continues to expand in both depth and reach. As we grow, we are looking for someone who can ensure that our initiatives are not only thoughtfully executed but also meaningfully visible across platforms, audiences, and institutions.

The Events & PR Associate supports the development and execution of TL’s events while driving structured media visibility and external amplification. This hybrid role requires operational clarity, excellent writing skills, creative thinking, and proactive follow-through. It is ideal for someone who enjoys turning ideas into well-run experiences and ensuring those experiences reach the right audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Event Concept Development & Planning

Work closely with the Editorial and Strategy teams to:

  • Contribute to event concept notes and framing documents

  • Help articulate event objectives, audience positioning, and narrative arcs

  • Draft clear, compelling concept notes for the events for internal and external use

  • Support research and preliminary identification of potential speakers and collaborators.

  • Reach out to confirmed speakers and assist in preparing speaker briefs and background notes

  • Ensure event messaging aligns with TL’s larger storytelling and impact goals

Event Execution Support

Support the Marketing Lead and project teams in executing TL’s events, including workshops, Beyond the Plate sessions, COTR trips, festivals, installations, and community gatherings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing timelines, checklists, and run-of-show documents

  • Coordinating vendors and logistics

  • Assisting with on-ground execution when possible

  • Coordinating documentation teams (photo/video)

  • Tracking budgets versus actuals in coordination with Finance

  • Identifying risks and preparing contingency plans

Post-event responsibilities:

  • Compiling structured event summaries and debrief reports

  • Tracking attendance, documentation outcomes, and media coverage

PR & Media Relations

Drive consistent and proactive media visibility for The Locavore’s work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining a structured media database

  • Drafting press releases, announcements, and media notes

  • Pitching stories related to TL’s initiatives and milestones

  • Coordinating interviews and media requests

  • Tracking coverage and maintaining a visibility dashboard

  • Maintaining TL’s press kit (bios, boilerplate, images, fact sheets)

  • Identifying opportunities for op-eds, expert commentary, and cultural features

  • Building and nurturing long-term relationships with journalists

External Amplification, Outreach & Relationship Building

In coordination with the Marketing Lead:

  • Share event invitations and key announcements with relevant institutions, universities, cultural organisations, media platforms, and aligned networks
  • Activate TL’s extended ecosystem — collaborators, past partners, community leaders, chefs, academics, and cultural practitioners — for participation in key initiatives

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for TL’s presence in public conversations, panels, forums, academic spaces, and cultural events

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with institutions, organisations, and individuals aligned with TL’s values and work

  • Proactively explore visibility opportunities for TL’s broader initiatives (COTR journeys, festivals, installations, editorial projects, partnerships, community campaigns, etc.)

  • Maintain structured outreach trackers and follow-up systems

  • Partnerships (collaborator alignment)

  • Digital Media (campaign timing and amplification)

  • Finance (vendor payments and budget tracking)

Maintain clear trackers and reporting systems to ensure transparency and accountability.

Candidate Attributes

We’re looking for someone who combines operational discipline with creative thinking and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate is:

  • An excellent writer with strong command over language, clarity, and tone

  • Creative and strategic in identifying compelling story angles and media opportunities

  • Confident in external communication and relationship-building

  • Highly organised and systems-driven

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently

  • Proactive and persistent in follow-ups and outreach

  • Calm and solutions-oriented under pressure

  • Genuinely interested in food systems, culture, sustainability, and public discourse

Experience & Skills

  • 2–4 years of experience in PR, communications, events, cultural programming, or institutional outreach

  • Experience working with journalists, editors, or cultural institutions preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable managing multiple timelines and structured trackers

  • Proficient with Google Workspace; familiarity with media tracking tools preferred

Growth Opportunities

This role offers significant scope for growth within The Locavore’s expanding ecosystem. With demonstrated initiative, leadership, and impact, the position can evolve into a more senior role such as Senior PR & Events Lead or Marketing Lead. As the organisation grows, there will also be opportunities to take on greater ownership of narrative framing, media strategy, and large-scale event programming, contributing more directly to The Locavore’s long-term visibility and positioning.
